On Friday, August 12th, West San Gabriel Valley Association of REALTORS®(WSGVAR) partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley (BGCWSGV) to donate backpacks and school supplies to children enrolled in the after school program. Both organizations have come together to make a greater difference in the community.
To kick off the school year, “our organization collected over 100 backpacks and dozens of back-to-school supplies … these donations will help families in need of our support, giving them one less thing to worry about as this school year begins.” said 2016 WSGVAR President, Kevin Kwan. Monterey Park’s Mayor, Mitchell Ing, and the President of the Greater Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce, Dora Leung were present at the ceremony where approximately 200 students benefited from the donation drive.
BGCWSGV has served the youth of Monterey Park, Alhambra and the surrounding areas for over 42 years. They provide a safe and structured environment where children can learn and have access to programs that will shape their future. Membership fees for the Boys and Girls Club are kept low and no child is turned away due to an inability to pay.
WSGVAR and its Foundation work with the surrounding communities, offering scholarships to high school seniors, as well as donating to various local organizations. For over 93 years they have served REALTORS® in Alhambra, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, and Temple City. The mission of WSGVAR is to advocate and enhance the interests of REALTORS®; to promote adherence to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and professional competency of members; to safeguard and preserve private property rights, always mindful of cultural backgrounds within our communities.
