The Greater Monterey Park Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center recently completed its first successful fundraiser with a summer excursion to the “The Pageant of the Masters” show in Laguna Beach. The Chamber partnered with Monterey Park businesses Wing Hop Fung, Mr. Baguette and America Asia Travels to take local residents and their friends on a fun and exciting evening on the town.
The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach is a show that has been going on for several decades. It began when locals dressed up to replicate people in famous paintings to help attract patrons to local businesses. Today, it features a sophisticated stage with an annual theme (this year was “Partners”). Various “paintings” and “sculptures” featuring live people are displayed accompanied by a live orchestra.
The trip started at WHF where Lan Ong hosted a wine and tea tasting for the attendees. A variety of wine were available for sampling. Ms. Ong personally demonstrated the art of drinking tea as well. For those interested in taking some of WHF’s finest products home, special discounts were offered just for the evening.
After the tasting session, passengers boarded a 56-seater bus provided by America Asia Travels. The proud American Eagle themed bus was a sight to see when it arrived in front of the theater in Laguna Beach. Helen Koo, CEO of America Asia Travels, took time out of her busy schedule and went along to see the show.
Mr. Baguette, a local Vietnamese sandwich shop with stores throughout the San Gabriel Valley, kept passengers nourished with its signature sandwiches to all participants.
The Chamber would like to thank all its sponsors and partners as well as all attendees for making the summer excursion such a success.
